Wild Rose Jefferson paid out more than $140,000 to Greene County and the city of Jefferson during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017.
Greene County treasurer Donna Lawson reported to the county supervisors on Monday that payments to the county from the casino were $140,136.23 for the fiscal year. That amount is one-half of 1 percent of the gross gaming revenue at the casino.
The biggest payment was for the week including New Year’s. The smallest payment was for the week before Christmas.
The city of Jefferson received the same amount. That percentage is specified in the Code of Iowa.
Both the county and the city of Jefferson put the Wild Rose money into their general fund.
In addition to the money paid by Wild Rose Casino, all towns (including Jefferson) and school districts in the county receive funding from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, the qualifying organization that holds the gaming license for Wild Rose Jefferson.
Grow Greene County awarded $50,000 to the city of Jefferson and another $132,565 to the other six incorporated towns on a per capita basis. Grow Greene County awarded $158,412 to Greene County Community Schools and $24,153 to Paton-Churdan, also on a per pupil basis. The community foundations in the counties contiguous to Greene received $42,130 each.
Grow Greene County awarded a total of $1.4 million in non-competitive and competitive grants.
